February 12, 1939–January 23, 2025

Darleen B. Olson, age 85, of Seneca, passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2025, with family by her side after many years of health issues.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1939, in Barnum to the late Howard and Flossy (Nutter) Dalton. 

She attended school in rural Gays Mills and helped her father on the family farm. She married Wayne Olson on Oct. 16, 1959. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Darleen farmed with Wayne for many years. She took care of the house and tended to her flower gardens and was a wonderful cook. Her fried chicken and lefse were loved by many. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. 

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; her children, Phil (fiancée Corrina) Olson, Judy (Bill) Bird, and Joe (fiancée Erica) Olson; six grandchildren, Amy (Mitch) Kratochvill, Robert (Taylor) Bird, Andrew (Carra) Bird, Brandon Olson, Brett Olson, and Nathan (Alycia) Olson; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Horan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Pink; many special nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Darleen was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Jenny (Ben) Burns, Harley (Mary) Dalton, Harlan Dalton, Ernie (Lu) Dalton, and Sharon (Paul) Surovy; her brother-in-law, William Olson and James Horan; father-in-law, Roy Olson; and her mother-in-law, Esther Olson.
