Terry G. Sellers July 14th, 1929–January 16, 2025

July 14th, 1929–January 16, 2025
Pastor Terry G. Sellers at the age of 95, passed from this earthly life to his eternal home in Heaven on Jan. 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Phillips.
Terry was born on July 14, 1929, in Phillips to Harold ‘Buck’ and Norma Sellers and raised with his sister Gayle.
Terry was a 1947 graduate of Phillips High School where he was fondly known as ‘Buck Sellers’. He loved hunting, jack knives, and spending time in the woods. Buck loved all things athletics: football, basketball, baseball and, as others reminded him often, he was undefeated in boxing.
After high school, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country in Korea and achieved Golden Glove boxing status. In later years, he was an active member and clergy of the American Legion Honor Guard and also had the privilege of being selected for The Honor Flight.
On May 14, 1949, Terry married Alice Meskill and began their 65 year journey together. They had eight children and settled in Prairie du Chien to raise their family. Terry was a faithful and loving father, mentor and friend. He was a living example of the Love of God, embracing all he met with open arms and a sincere heart.
Pastor Sellers is warmly remembered for his humor, he loved to tell his jokes and make you laugh. One of his favorite lines when asked: Are you all right? was to answer: “No, I’m half left”. He knew he shouldn’t have favorites, but if he could… “it would be you.” He definitely demonstrated this by slipping those he loved a little red or white Bible. Everyone who knew him well, knew of his love for ice cream. According to him, it was appropriate for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Pastor Sellers spent his life loving others in hopes that all would come to know and receive the Savior that he loved. This was his passion, his purpose and his everyday pursuit. Because of that truth, many have found the hope of the Gospel. Pastor Sellers began his path in ministry as an itinerant minister in Chicago, California and back across the states to Wisconsin, where he physically built his first church in Prairie du Chien. After two decades, Terry and Alice moved up north to their hometown of Phillips, where he pioneered and pastored the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church (Word of Life Family Church) and remains the founding pastor.
Pastor Sellers, we thank you for your constant love and unmerited acceptance at all times. Thank you for choosing to see the best in all of us. We love you and we appreciate you. We look forward to seeing you again.
Terry will be lovingly remembered by his children: Patsy (Rob) Norton, Terry (Jeff) Hutchins, Sandy (Mike) Prusinski, Kelly (Rita) Sellers, Cheryl (Scott) Schmidt, Rocky (Jodie) Sellers, Tammy (Rick) Lee. Sister, Gayle Meskill, and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He took great joy in the lives of all his grands.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, son-in-law Jeff Hutchins, infant son Kelly Lyle, grandchildren: Shawn Lee, Holly Lee, Great Grandchild: Zion Greene.
