Kay A. Bolsinger
Kay Ann Bolsinger, 74, of Greeley, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at her son’s home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 16, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in rural Elkport.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1950, in Manchester, the daughter of William and Mildred (Hammond) Kruse. Kay was raised and educated in Garnavillo and graduated from Garnavillo High School. After high school, she attended Capri College in Dubuque. She then worked as a waitress at Colony House Café in Edgewood.
On Sept. 26, 1970, Kay was united in marriage to Jimmy Jay Bolsinger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Three children were born to this union. Kay was a stay-at-home mom until her children went to school. She began working at Ertl’s in Dyersville for several years. Kay and Jim then ran a tavern, Jim’s Tap, for a year. Kay said, “That was Jim’s crazy idea!” Kay then worked at Exide as an assembler for 32 years. After her retirement, Kay cooked at the Petersburg School until it closed. Kay also worked at Karl’s Grocery Store in Edgewood.
Kay enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, canning, and shopping. She was a wonderful cook! Above all else, Kay loved her family and cherished spending time with them.
Survivors include her three children, Tammy (Craig Pritchard) Bolsinger of Garber, Terry Jo (James) Halverson of Earlville, and Scott (Jessica) Bolsinger of Earlville; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Avery Miller) Pritchard, Karla (Luke) Willman, Paige (Spencer) Walters, Luke (Erin) Pritchard, Trace Bolsinger, Hayley Hutchinson, Allison (Kyle Bauer) Bolsinger, Logan Pritchard, Maci Jo (fiancé, Augustus Ehlers) Pritchard, Zach Halverson, and Alexis Halverson; six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Oaklynn, Ava, Hayden, Jacobi, and Cooper, with three on the way; two sisters, Dorothy Hansel of Garber and Maxine Kruger of Edgewood; two sisters-in-law, Janet Kruse of Guttenberg and Carol Kruse of St. Olaf; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Axel.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred Kruse; her husband, Jimmy Bolsinger in 2011; her in-laws, Lorence “Bill” and Iva Bolsinger; son-in-law, Darrell Ingles; grandson, Logan Pritchard; two brothers, Irvin Kruse and William Kruse, Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Loen “Jump” Hansel and Clair Kruger.
