The Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce board recently hired Matthew Brownfield of Marion as their new Chamber director.

Brownfield has a master's degree in Information Technology and a Bachelors degree in Software Engineering. His marketing background will be advantageous to his new position as Chamber Director.

The father of three grown children currently resides in Guttenberg and looks forward to enjoying all the outdoor recreational activities that Guttenberg and northeast Iowa have to offer.

"I love the outdoors – hiking, biking and being out on the water," commented Brownfield. "Accepting a position as Guttenberg's new Chamber Director fits well with current transitions taking place in my life."

Brownfield, who has a passion for keto baking, is also a counselor with Habits of Health System. Former critical care physician Dr. Wayne Scott Anderson, who developed an accessible, field-proven approach for reaching a healthy weight and unlocking the habits that make health vibrant and sustainable, launched the transformative program. "I lost 200 pounds using this research-based program," he shared. "It has been a great eye-opening journey that I hope to share with others."

Brownfield was informed about the open position after working as an activity specialist at Camp Courageous in Monticello.

"The Monticello Chamber Director suggested I apply for the job," he noted. "She felt I would be an asset to Guttenberg's business community."

Brownfield will be working as the Chamber Director from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday - Thursday. He recently addressed Guttenberg Rotary members at their weekly meeting on Nov. 21. "I am excited about many  of the things that are already in place, and have felt nothing but gratitude from community members I have met thus far," he shared. "I look forward to building confidence in the community and moving forward in a positive direction."
