MFL MarMac starts season with win

The MFL MarMac girls basketball team started its season with a 60-40 win over North Fayette Valley on Nov. 26.
The Bulldogs held an 8-6 lead through the first quarter, before distancing themselves 20-13 heading into halftime. They out-scored the TigerHawks 22-11 in the third quarter to increase the advantage to 42-24, then held onto the double digit margin in the fourth.
NFV shot 37.5 percent from the field and hit only half of their 16 free throw attempts. The Bulldogs held them to seven offensive rebounds—and limited second chance scoring opportunities—while also forcing 24 turnovers.
Emme Wikner scored a team-high 13 points for MFL MarMac, followed by Autumn Shaw with 10. Ava Kishman and Emma Driscoll each contributed eight points.
The Bulldogs started this week with a home contest with Waukon on Dec. 2, then will host Turkey Valley on Dec. 3. They will head to Clayton Ridge on Dec. 6.
