The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association announced their 2024 Large and Small School All-State Teams before the start of the WIAA State Football Championship games.
Prairie du Chien players Blake Thiry and Jack Simmons were honored by the organization.
The WFCA named Thiry the Small School Offensive Player of the Year. It is thought that Thiry is the first athlete from Prairie du Chien High School to earn a state player of the year award in any sport.
Thiry, an Indiana University recruit, was also named to the small schools all-state team as a running back.
Junior Jack Simmons earned small schools honorable mention all-state honors for his work on the offensive line.
Simmons and Thiry join a small group of PdC Football alums to earn all-state recognition from the WFCA.
Previous selections included - Mat Peterson (honorable mention wide receiver) in 2001, Mike Lenzendorf, (honorable mention defensive lineman) in 2004, Mason Kramer (small schools honorable mention defensive back) in 2019, Max Schneider (small schools honorable mention offensive lineman) and Thiry (small schools honorable mention offense at tight end/fullback and small schools honorable mention defense at linebacker) last year.
