Derek Bunders, age 54, of Sun Prairie passed away Nov. 10, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents Gary and Marie Bunders. 

He is survived by his brother, Bubba; his Aunt Lucy (Gene) Couch, of Arizona; and many cousins. Derek attended PdC high school and Western Wisconsin Technical College.

He spent many summers at the family cabin at River of Lakes in Bagley. Derek was an avid fisherman, bringing back the best of his catch for his annual fish fry. He enjoyed good food, was adept at preparing it and, of course, eating it.

Derek fought acral melanoma for over two years including participating in a drug trial. Sadly, his mother Marie, who was his support during his treatments, had an unexpected medical condition, which resulted in her death on September 23, less than two months prior to Derek's passing.

Both mother and son were under Agrace Hospice Care and were cremated per their individual wishes.

Condolences are extended to his good friend Angela and his brother Bubba.
