Seven Central football players received all-district distinction for the 2024 season. Braxton Bormann was a first team pick, while Owen Hammersland, Maddux Eglseder, Jack Scherf and Garrett Burns were second team selections. Logan Sharpe and Braden Taylor were both honorable mention.
A junior, Bormann was selected for his work on the Warrior defense, where he led the team with 70 total tackles, 62 solo tackles and 12 tackles for loss. He tied for second in sacks with one. Bormann also contributed on the offense, coming in second on the team with 37 rushes for 179 yards with three touchdowns. As a wide receiver, Bormann caught seven passes for 82 yards, averaging 11.7 yards per catch.
Hammersland, a sophomore, led the Central ground game with 106 rushing attempts for 529 yards and eight touchdowns. Hammersland also caught seven passes for 85 yards and was key on special teams as Central’s main kicker and punter. He finished with 18 kickoffs with four touchbacks and 24 punts for 899 yards. On defense, Hammersland was second on the team with 40.5 tackles, 35 of which were solo and two for a loss. He snagged one interception.
Senior Eglseder ran for 35 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns and caught five passes for 60 yards. He finished with 29 tackles on defense, including 2.5 for a loss, and grabbed two interceptions. Eglseder also returned 13 kickoffs for 225 yards and two punts for 22 yards.
Scherf, also a senior, netted 11 carries for 55 yards and one touchdown, while leading the Warrior offense in receptions with 10 and was second in receiving yards with 119. Scherf collected 41.5 total tackles on defense, with 31 solo tackles and one interception.
As a lineman, Burns was a key blocker on offense and on defense. The junior finished the season with 14 total tackles, including 12 solo efforts and six for a loss, and had 1.5 sacks. Burns also returned a fumble recovery for touchdown.
Sharpe played both sides of the ball as a senior, finishing with 21 rushing attempts for 107 yards and one touchdown, to go with two receptions for 26 yards and one touchdown. On defense, Sharpe had 9.5 tackles with one tackle for a loss.
Warrior lineman Taylor, a junior, was the center and blocking force on offense and added 6.5 tackles with one tackle for a loss on defense.
