Hornets finish season at Highland

The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets Volleyball team hosted the Weston Silver Eagles last Tuesday, Oct. 22 to begin postseason competition.
The Silver Eagles kicked off the regional quarterfinal contest by winning the first set 25-21 before Wauzeka-Steuben won each of the final three sets (25-13, 25-15 and 25-20) to advance to a D5 regional semifinal contest at Highland last Thursday night.
The Highland Cardinals ended the Hornets season with a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-20 and 25-22) to advance to last Saturday’s D5 regional final contest against Royall.
Wauzeka-Steuben concluded the 2024 season with a final overall record of 10-12 and will lose the services of seven seniors: Zoey Jelinek, Kiley Manning, Brooke Mitchell, Savannah Swatek, Gwenn Walz, Sophia Walz and Elizabeth Wright.
