Bulldogs win regular season finale

MFL MarMac closed out the volleyball regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Postville on Oct. 15. The Bulldogs came from behind in the first set to win 25-20, then edged the Pirates 25-22 in the second before handily taking the third 25-16.
MFL MarMac out-hit Postville 38 kills to six and finished the night with a .189 kill efficiency. Maddie Keehner topped the stat sheet with 11, followed by Avery Lamborn with nine, Autumn Shaw six and Lily Johnson five. Addison Corlett led the Bulldogs with 21 assists, while Morgan Jacobson earned seven.
Lauryn Johnson anchored the Bulldog defense with 15 digs. Corlett had nine and Lily Johnson turned in eight. Keehner and Shaw had six digs apiece.
The team struggled from the service line, connecting on just 79.7 percent of attempts. Corlett had the best night, hitting 14 of 15 serves, and Keehner came through on 10 of 11. Kensey Ball was 12 of 14 as a serve specialist, including one ace, while Keagan Echard completed six of seven attempts—half of which were aces.
The win bumped MFL MarMac’s season record to 6-20. The Bulldogs were 3-5 in the Upper Iowa Conference, good for sixth in the rankings.
MFL MarMac kicked off postseason play Oct. 21, also against Postville (4-21), and now will face Sumner-Fredericksburg (23-17) on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
