Rose Ann Krieg
Feb. 25, 1935–Sept. 22, 2024
Rose Ann Krieg, 89, of La Crosse died peacefully in her home Sunday, September 22, 2024. (She had the good sense to wait until after the Packer victory!)
She was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Prairie du Chien, WI, the daughter and first-born of Russell and Catherine (Rod) Rink. She married David S. Krieg Sept. 28, 1957, at St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien.
After successfully raising three children, she found her perfect job, working for many years in the children’s department of Sears Roebuck. She loved to read best-selling fiction, especially stuff that had to be read in order (Think Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich).
She never met a brandy Manhattan that she didn’t like, as long as it had an olive and not a cherry. She made a mean pot roast and always made sure that we feasted well on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was a trustworthy friend, a good neighbor, a faithful wife, an excellent housekeeper, and a great mom.
She is survived by her two daughters; Kelly (Michael) Krieg-Sigman of La Crosse, and Jill (Scott Stoeffler) Krieg of Downers Grove, Ill.; her son Mark (Debbie) Krieg of Boca Raton, Fla.; her brothers John (Ann) Rink of Prairie du Chien and Jim (Georgia) Rink of Florence, Ala.; her sister-in-law Sharon (Jim) Malecki of Sacramento, Cal., her brother-in-law Alan (Sandy) Krieg of Marquette, Iowa, her devoted grand-dog Clyde who brought much joy to her final years, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Tom Rink, her lifelong friend (and fellow telephone marathoner) Evelyn Tesar Hinderleider, and her husband David.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 9 at the Dickinson Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, La Crosse.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Father Brian Konopa will officiate and interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gundersen Hospice program. Huge thanks to those people – they are saints on earth. Special thanks also to Dorina Lukins, Judy Bouffleur, Jackie Davis and Zach Kumlin for everything they did for Rose Ann, and everything they continue to do for her family.
