Kathi Heisz
Nov. 18, 1958–Sept. 22, 2024
Kathi ‘Kate’ (Ingle) Heisz ended her journey here on Earth on Sept. 22, 2024. She spent her final days surrounded by her children, family, and many, many friends. She was born Nov. 18, 1958, in Prairie du Chien to George and Maria (Gruber) Ingle. She attended Prairie du Chien High School until she was welcomed into her bonus family, the Wayne and Sandy Jerrett home, where she attended North Crawford High School for her final three years.
She was joined in marriage to Mikeal Heisz Sr. on May 20, 1978, and then again March 8, 1991. Kate enjoyed spending time with her “Love Bugs,” her grandchildren; she loved playing pool and sharing life’s lessons. Kate loved dancing; if there wasn’t a dance floor, she would make one. She enjoyed finding a good deal and she will be remembered for her collection of signs throughout her house that she loved to pick up from her favorite place to shop, Nana’s What Not Shop, as well as other thrift stores, rummages, and flea markets. She spent many hours decorating for holidays, especially Halloween. She enjoyed watching Gun Smoke, Lifetime, In the Heat of the Night and playing Candy Crush and Mexican Poker. She worked hard all her life; in the tobacco fields; as a CNA; at the local Amoco and later as a United States Postal Worker. Kate’s sense of humor combined with her no-nonsense attitude kept everyone entertained.
She is survived by her ever-loving children: Mikeal (Brittany Hird) in Mt Sterling, Charles (Amanda Puckett) in Gays Mills, and Mindi (Michael) Sabljak in Greenfield. She is also survived by, her pride and joy, her Love Bugs: Monica, Daryen, Morgan, Deakyn, Paiten, Mariska, Titan, Paytin, Striker, Logan, and her bonus grandchildren: David, Naedene, Kindohl, Gavin, and Kylie; her siblings: Renee Ingle, Sue (Ed) Heisz, Cindy (Bob) Jacobus, Steve Ingle, Deb (Dan) Noble, Penny Hazlett, Janita Bushman, Georgene Richardson, Wayne (Deb) Jerrett, Beck (Tim) Steele, Clay Jerrett, and Tom Swadley. She is also survived by mother-in law, Harriett Heisz and in-laws: Kathy (Bill) Statz, Ed (Sue) Heisz, Harry (Marla) Heisz, Donna (Brad) Bay, and Ivan (Deb) Heisz; along with 36 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and too many close friends to count.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mikeal Heisz Sr.; her parents, George Ingle and Maria (Gruber) Ingle; her father-in-law, Gene Heisz; her bonus parents, Wayne and Sandy Jerrett; her nephews: Doug Steele, Fred Statz, Alan Ingle and Jason Jerrett; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be appreciated.
