May 23, 1931–September 27, 2024

Joan M. Novey age 93 of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away Sept. 27, 2024, at Crossing Rivers Health. She was born May 23, 1931, in Prairie du Chien to Edward and Mae (Weighner) Bock. 

She married Lawrence Novey on January 5, 1952, at St. Gabriel’s Church in a double ceremony with her sister Annabelle (George Stubbe).  Lawrence preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2015. 

Joan was a member of St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy with the class of 1949. 

In earlier years she was employed at the Regent and Metro Theaters, Weighner’s Garage, Prairie du Chien City Office and Garden City. 

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Novey of Prairie du Chien and son David (Karla) Novey of Byron, Minn. Three grandsons Zachary (Rebecca) Novey of Courtland, MN, Justin Novey of Byron, Minn., and Brandon (Emily) Novey of Kasson, Minn., along with five great-grandsons Bonner and Gentry and triplets Henry, Donald and Cayden. 

She greatly enjoyed vacationing to many parts of the United States sightseeing in most of the contiguous states and several Canadian provinces. In later years Branson, Mont., was a favorite destination with over two-dozen trips to attend various entertainment venues. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, a brother Edward (Bud) Bock, and her sisters Pauline (John) Henry, Marian (Louis) Bernabei and Annabelle (George) Stubbe. Thank you to Crossing Rivers Hospice and Nursing Staff for keeping her comfortable in her last days.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.
