Seneca-Wauzeka-Steuben Bluegolds earn road win

The Seneca-Wauzeka-Steuben Bluegolds traveled to Blanchardville on Saturday afternoon to face Pecatonica/Argyle as part of the Vikings’ homecoming week. The Bluegolds spoiled the festivities by coming away with a 37-12 win.
The Bluegolds got on the scoreboard first as they took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. The visitors added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to go up 20-0 before Pecatonica/Argyle scored a pair of touchdowns late in the second to cut into the Bluegolds lead and make the score 20-12 at halftime.
S-W-S kept the Vikings off the scoreboard in the second half while adding a touchdown in the third quarter and a field goal and a final touchdown in the fourth quarter to earn a 37-12 win. The Bluegolds ran the ball 38 times for 275 yards as a team with three touchdowns.
Leading the Bluegolds individual rushing attack was Owen Oppriecht (10 attempts for 131 yards and one touchdown), Cooper Lomas (5 attempts for 55 yards and one touchdown), Carson Sime (4 attempts for 46 yards and one touchdown), Gavyn Wilkins (1 attempt for 22 yards), Tucker Stluka (2 attempts for 8 yards), Joshua Martin (2 attempts for 5 yards), Dakota Cox (1 attempt for 8 yards) and Tucker DuCharme (1 attempt for 0 yards).
Lomas was 4-for-7 passing for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Konichek (2 receptions for 120 yards and two touchdowns), Hunter Hagensick (1 reception for 13 yards) and Sime (1 reception for 8 yards) collected those four passes during the game.
The Bluegolds improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Six Rivers Conference, while Pecatonica/Argyle fell to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in Six Rivers Conference. Seneca-Wauzeka-Steuben returns home to Wauzeka this Friday night for homecoming as they host D7 power Black Hawk/Warren (IL) (4-1 overall, 3-0 in the Six Rivers Conference).
