Lorna L. Graybill, 83, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Guttenberg, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg where a memorial service will commence at 3 p.m.
Inurnment will follow at Guttenberg City Cemetery.
Lorna was born on March 18, 1941, the daughter of Lawrence and Alice (Brandenburg) Waterman. She married Robert Graybill on Oct. 5, 1974 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elkport.
Lorna faithfully served as a church organist on and off for over 50 years. She began at Immanuel and was eventually the organist at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. You could often find her listening to her various records of organ music. Lorna was also an avid collector of cookbooks. She was constantly on the lookout for new recipes to try. In 2007 Bob and Lorna moved to Cedar Rapids to be closer to their daughter and most importantly their grandchildren.
Lorna is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Bob; daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Rinderknecht and grandchildren, Emery and Will; and twin brother, Lawson Waterman.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
