 Maurice O. Blome, 86, of Ferryville, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. 

Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family.      

Maurice Orville Blome was born Nov. 4, 1937, to Harry and Vera (Sachs) Blome in Lakota, Iowa. 

He attended and graduated from Lakota High School in 1956. Maurice married Darlene Stroebel on Feb. 11, 1962, in Lakota. 

He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1954–1956. He then went on to also serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1956–1960. 

Maurice had many different careers: maintenance, machinist, farmer, and finally truck driver. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially woodworking.     

He is survived by his wife Darlene of Ferryville; two children: Dan (Julie) Blome of New Richmond and Penny (Scott) Hering, of Dodgeville; six grandchildren: Lynn (Shawn) Phillips of Linden; Nikki (Randy) Brennum, Steve (Courtney) Hutson, all of Dodgeville; Bret Hutson of Milwaukee; Michael (Shelby) Blome, of Chippewa Falls; and  Matthew Blome, of Mankato, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren; a brother Conley (Deborah) Blome of Lakota; and a sister Jane (Kenneth) Fritz of Fairmont, Minn.    

A memorial for Maurice will be held at a future date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minn.
