August 14, 1944—September 5, 2024

Mary Lynn Runyan, age 80, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at her home.  

She was born on Aug. 14, 1944, on the Ed McCormick farm in Mount Hope, the daughter of Lynn F. and Alma E. (Clark) Ready.  

Mary Lynn graduated from Bloomington High School in 1962 and furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin Platteville in early childhood education.  

She was united in marriage to Daniel Runyan at Reno, Nevada, on Aug. 14, 1980.  Mary Lynn enjoyed traveling and has been from border to border and coast to coast with a year living in Rota, Spain.  

After spending nearly thirty years on the West Coast, and after the big earthquake on Oct. 17, 1989, Mary Lynn couldn’t wait to get back to God’s Country.  

Mary Lynn worked as a manager for Kmart and as a greeter at the Casino Queen in Marquette, Iowa, retiring in 2006.  

She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, photography, and collecting fairies and gnomes.  Mary Lynn was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Aerie #1502 and the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel; her children: Donald Skaife, Jr., Karen Robin, and Scott Skaife; five grandchildren; her sisters: Catherine (Tony) Brendemuehl and Rebecca (Ed) Levine.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lynn was preceded in death by a son, Eric Skaife; her brothers, James and Lynn Ready; her favorite pet dog, Hermoine Potter.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Pastor Pamela Strakeljahn officiating.  

The burial will be in Blakes Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township.
