Dean Orville Peterson of West Union passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse, Wis. He was born Nov. 11, 1947, in Iowa, to Orville and Helen (Kuhse) Peterson. Dean attended school through the eighth grade.

 

Dean was united in marriage to Nina Nelson. Three children were born to this union, Elizabeth, Bradley and Patrick. The couple later divorced. He married Eva Gordon, and she preceded him in death.

 

He grew up on a dairy farm. Later, he worked for Keifer, making live stock trailers, worked as a dairy farmer and at MPC. Dean enjoyed watching tractor pulls, roller skating, dancing and going to fairs.

 

Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Peterson, Decorah; Bradley (Erica) Peterson, Marion; and Patrick (Dana) Peterson, Marion; grandchildren, Finn Peterson, Katrina Peterson and Evelyn Peterson; two great-grandchildren; nephew,  Steve Schuety; five great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eva; his sister Ardis Schuety; brother-in-law William Schuety; and nephews, Vernon Schuety and Robert Schuety.

 

Visitation and funeral service were on Sept. 3, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating. Interment was at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home of Elkader is assisting the family.
