Mark your calendar for these Sept. events

As autumn arrives in the area, local organizations are gearing up for some popular annual celebrations in the area.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, the River Park Cruisers will sponsor their 26th annual cruise, show and music in Guttenberg. The show will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., and the cruise leaves at 3:30 p.m. Watch The Press for more details.
Guttenberg will celebrate its 33rd annual GermanFest on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, with music, food, and family activities. This year’s musical lineup includes the Guttenberg German Band, Mollie B and Friends, Elizabeth Mary Music, Beau Timmerman, Lovehandles and Shirts and Skins. More details in an upcoming issue.
On the same weekend, the 43rd annual Plagman Barn Show Days will be held Sept. 20, 21, and 22, sponsored by the Northeast Iowa Farm Antique Association. The barn is located west of Guttenberg and the event will feature demonstrations of early farm and home life, along with food and entertainment.
Friday, Sept. 20, is also the date of the Clayton Ridge High School Homecoming celebration, with an afternoon parade and the crowning of royalty at the football game that evening.
