November 25, 1965–August 17, 2024

Michelle “Shelly” Austin Timmons, 58, died peacefully at the Mayo Clinic on Aug. 17, 2024, in La Crosse.

Shelly was born on Nov. 25, 1965, in Anchorage, Ala., and came to Marlene and Monte Austin through adoption.

She married Scott Baillargeon in New Milford, Conn., in 1985. After settling in McGregor, Iowa, in 2002, Shelly opened her own shop, River Gypsy, where her artistic ability blossomed making and selling jewelry and upholstery, a talent she kept up actively throughout her life. After closing her shop, and the passing of her parents, she settled in Gays Mills.

Her children remember her as a strong woman, who taught them how to be independent while loving and taking care of others.

Shelly shared her passion of arts and crafts with everyone she came in contact with. She was generous and caring with her time and compassionate to everyone. She was an active and devout members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and often volunteer wherever needed.

Shelly was a true artist. Her talents touched many people in many ways. Everyone who knew her is able to take something special from knowing her and treasure it always.

Shelly is survived by her daughters, Miranda Baillargeon and Casey (Nathan) Weidenbach, and her son, Matthew Mackenzie; six grandchildren, Tejanna, Elias, Kenneth, Ethan, Cyrus and Calvin; brother, Michael Austin; and many cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Marlene and Monte.

The celebration of life will be scheduled at a time and date to be determined. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Shelly’s life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your nearest homeless shelter to help those in need, as Shelly always did.
