October 7, 1947–August 19, 2024

Mary Jane Gentes, 76, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer.

Mary was born on Oct. 7, 1947 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Lavern and Ila (Kramer) Gentes. She was united in marriage to Greg Anderson and later divorced.

Mary was dearly beloved by her family and many friends. Mary’s smile and laughter could light up a room. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and an occasional visit to the casino.

Mary adored her grandchildren and spent special time with all of them.

Mary is survived by her sons, Andy (Becky) Anderson, Jay (Crissy) Anderson and Jeremie (Tina) Anderson; grandsons, Cody, Michael, Tyler and Jacob (Alexia); granddaughter, Anna (Mitch) Jet; great-granddaughter, Elena; and siblings, Pat (Max) Hughs, Jim Gentes, Richard (Mary Francis) Gentes, Gary (Meredith Gentes and Annette Powers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held on Sept. 1, from 1--3 p.m. at the Washington Street Park Shelter in Prairie du Chien. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery on Oct. 4, 2024 at noon.
