The annual "Celebrate Guttenberg" event and Crazy Day sales will be held this Saturday, Aug. 10. The Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce has planned a day of family activities.

The day will begin with a free youth fishing tournament starting at 7:30 a.m. at the south municipal marina, with fishing from 8-11 a.m. Door prizes will be awarded. The event is sponsored by The Guttenberg Motel; to register call Patty at 563-321-1123. 

The Saturday morning Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in downtown Guttenberg.

Local merchants will hold "Crazy Day" sales on the sidewalk and in-store.  The sales are a summer tradition for local merchants dating back to the 1960s. See ads in this week's issue for details.

Youngsters can enjoy inflatables starting at 3 p.m. in the business district on South River Park Drive.

A food truck will be on hand. The day will conclude with a downtown street dance from 7-10 p.m., featuring Elizabeth Mary Music.
