Mark J. Konichek
August 22, 1967–July 24, 2024
Mark J. Konichek, age 56 of Wauzeka, formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Crossing Rivers Health surrounded by his family.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1967, to Raymond Sr. and Virginia (Berg) Konichek. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School with the class of 1985.
Mark married Betty Lund on September 18, 1993, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He worked at Miniature Precision Components before becoming a truck driver for the next 15 years.
He most recently worked at Universal Forest Products in Prairie du Chien. Mark was a strong advocate for veterans and participated in the annual Honor Ride for fallen soldiers every Memorial Day.
He enjoyed hunting deer and small game, but most of all he loved fishing in the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Betty; his mother Virginia Konichek; four brothers Raymond Jr. (Marsha), Michael (Sandy), David (Melissa), and Chuck (Tracey); 6 sisters Mary Phillips, Christina Marfilius, Carol (Art) Wall, Catherine Bassett, Laura (Kevin) Johll, and Charlotte Konichek; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Sr. and brother-in-law Arnie.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating with burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery in Wauzeka.
