Volleyball player with Elkader ties is headed to her third Olympics
The USA Women’s Volleyball National Team’s 2024 Olympic roster includes Kelsey Robinson-Cook, daughter of Mike and Sue Robinson of Greensboro, Ga., and granddaughter of Erika Moyna and the late John A. Moyna of Elkader.
Kelsey won gold in 2021 and bronze in 2016 as a member of the national team. She is looking forward to her third Olympic games in Paris. The USA women’s volleyball national team is currently ranked fifth in the world by FIVB and, this year, the competition format has changed to include more top ranked teams, so the path to the podium will be a challenge the United States is looking forward to.
From the 2021 Olympics, Kelsey has continued her professional career, playing most recently in Italy for Prosecco Doc IMOCO Volley. The team finished the regular season with 33 wins and two losses. They won four trophies, including the most prestigious European Champions League title. After playing professional volleyball for 10 years all over the world, Kelsey will join the new professional league, League One Volleyball, starting this fall in the United States. She is excited to showcase volleyball at the highest level and open the doors for future Olympians.
The U.S. women’s team will begin play on Monday, July 29, and other matches are set for July 31 and Aug. 4. The quarterfinals will take place on Aug. 6, semifinals on Aug. 8 and finals on Aug. 10 and 11. The games will be livestreamed and will appear on Peacock.
