Trio of Central softball players earn all-conference recognition
A trio of Central softball players have earned Upper Iowa all-conference recognition.
Senior Ashlyn Scherf received second-team all-conference honors after starting all 23 games for the Warriors. She led the team with 20 hits—including 13 singles, six doubled and one triple—and seven RBIs. Scherf also scored 14 runs and finished with a team high .294 average. On the mound, Scherf pitched a team high 57 and two-third innings with 38 strikeouts.
Senior Gracie Kennicker earned all-conference honorable mention, starting 23 games behind the plate for Central. Kennicker finished with six hits, two sacrifice bunts, four runs scored and three RBIs.
Junior Reese Berns also earned all-conference honorable mention after starting 23 games for the Warriors. She tied for the team high in runs scored with 16, while coming in third in hits with 13. Berns collected 12 singles and one double for one RBI and finished with a .181 average.
