September 19, 1959–July 3, 2024

Forest William Jackley, age 64, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Crossing Rivers in Prairie du Chien after a long illness.  

He was born on Sept. 19, 1959, at the General Hospital in Prairie du Chien, the son of Paul and Carol (McKinney) Jackley.  

Forest grew up in Bagley and graduated from West Grant High School in 1977.  Following graduation, he joined the United States Marines and served his country until his medical discharge.  

Forest was employed with Walz Lumber Company from 1977 until 1987 when he began employment with ADM as a fleet deckhand for barges and then a barge cleaner.  

He worked in Artco locations on the upper Mississippi River, Illinois River and Missouri River. Forest was an active member of the Bagley Volunteer Fire Department for 46 years. Forest loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycle, and play a game of Euchre or Cribbage. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandsons. 

Survivors include his significant other, Darcy Ellis-Moore; his sons: Ryne (Bobbi Jo Meng), Trevor Jackley, Jeremy Day, and Kevin Ploessl; his grandsons: Brody Forest Jackley and Dylan Day; his sisters: Jean (Dan) Blake, Leatha (Dave (Opie) Heisz) Jackley; niece, Zelda Blake; nephew, Patrick (Carley) Blake; step-mother, Ruth; and other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his mother, Carol Carroll and his father, Paul Jackley, Forest was preceded in death by a son, Brody Allan Jackley.

A Celebration of Forest’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from noon until 4 p.m. at the Bagley Park in Bagley.  Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
