Mark Allen Walters

Mark Allen Walters, age 74 of Glendive, Mont., passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home in Glendive. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mark was born on Aug. 8, 1949, to his parents George and Lorraine (LaMere) Walters in St. Joseph, Missouri. He grew up in Missouri and Wisconsin with two brothers and three sisters. In 1981, he moved to Missoula, Montana and fell in love with the mountains, rivers and streams and trout fishing.
Mark had an adventurous and intelligent nature. He was always curious about other people and places. He liked to travel and hitchhiked from sea to shining sea (New York to California) for the bicentennial year. Mark celebrated his 50th birthday by hitchhiking from the Bitterroot Valley in Montana to Wisconsin and back. He was a kind and generous man, always loyal to friends and family. He had a true respect for God’s other creatures and took pity on many a critter in need.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Steve Walters and one sister Wendy Leyde.
He is survived by his wife Karen Jakobson of Glendive; his daughter, Jennifer Walters of Cochrane, Wisconsin; two sisters, Robin (Bob) Wallace of Fitzburg, Wisconsin and Lori (George) Schaller of Holmen, Wisconsin; one brother, Kenneth (Maurine) Walters of Prairie du Chien and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark faced his cancer diagnosis with strength and bravery. We will always love him and miss him.
