January 2, 1931–July 8, 2024

Bonnie J. Goodrich, age 93, of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at Crossing Rivers Healthcare in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born in Boscobel on Jan. 2, 1931, the only daughter of Harry and Bessie (Cooley) Miller, and grew up on a farm in rural Crawford County. 

She attended a rural school near Boydtown and Boscobel High School, graduating in 1949. 

Bonnie was united in marriage with Roy Goodrich on Oct. 22, 1949, in Madison. During the following years she was a stay-at-home mother to sons, Delose and Glen, until they were well into school. 

After a few years of moving with her husband’s employment, they settled in 1960 in Prairie du Chien. She was employed at Piggly Wiggly, Peoples State Bank and First Federal, retiring when her husband did. Later, she returned to the workforce, enjoying her time working with Lori Knapp, Inc. and Homeward Bound, where she helped support their special clients. She also spent many years with the Prairie du Chien Public School System and Bargain Boutique as a volunteer. Many in the community said she was a very caring person. Bonnie was also a very accomplished counted-cross stitcher and did craft shows for years.

Bonnie’s husband Roy preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2011. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, son, daughter in-law Sandra, and brother Donald.

She is survived by her son Glen (Liz) of Prairie du Chien; Dee Dee Muilenburg (life partner of the late Delose Goodrich) of Prairie du Chien. Grandchildren Kelly Goodrich Madison, Kurt Goodrich (Jenny Jeidy) Eastman, Tammi Fure (Ryan) Sussex, Tony (Jamie) Goodrich/ St. Olaf. Great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jenna, Crystal, Dayton, Christian, Hunter, Hannah. Brother Jerry (Eloda) Miller, Sparta. A special companion and friend Robert “Bud” Mertz. 

A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Hillary Burns-Kite officiated, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.
