WarEagles sweep Postville, but falter against Kee

Jack Scherf allowed one unearned run in seven innings while striking out four and walking none in the first game of a doubleheader versus the Pirates.

The Clayton Ridge-Central WarEagle baseball team played five games the week of June 17-21.

 

On June 17, the WarEagles hosted Postville in a varsity doubleheader at Jack Dittmer Sports Complex in Elkader. In the first game, the WarEagles defeated the Pirates 6-1. Jack Scherf allowed one unearned run in seven innings while striking out four and walking none. Mason Loan was 2-4 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. 

 

In the second game, the WarEagles won again by a score of 12-8. Max Nuehring was 2-3 with three RBIs and three stolen bases. Isaac Loan was 2-4 with an RBI.

 

On June 20, the WarEagle morning JV played the Postville Pirates. They lost by a final score of 6-4. Kasten Oberbreckling pitched the first two innings and allowed just one earned run.

 

Later that day, Clayton Ridge-Central faced Kee High in JV and varsity action. The JV won their game 9-4. Griffen Hammersland pitched all four innings and allowed only two earned runs. 

 

The varsity lost 5-0. Kee pitcher Dalton Mudderman threw a perfect game and struck out 14. Max Nuehring pitched five and two-thirds innings and only gave up two earned runs in the game.
