MFL MarMac is riding a five-game win streak into the home stretch of the baseball regular season. The Bulldogs last week swept an important doubleheader versus Kee, then defeated Postville and North Fayette Valley, to improve to 20-5 overall and 13-2 in the Upper Iowa Conference.
A five-run fourth inning propelled MFL MarMac to a 6-0 victory over Kee in game one of a June 17 twin bill in Monona.
Parker Kuehl was 3-4 at the plate, with a stolen base, two RBIs and a run scored. Pitcher Jacob Schellhorn aided his own cause with a pair of hits and two RBIs, and Jaxon Millage put up an RBI single and scored a run.
Schellhorn held the Hawk offense in check, allowing just three hits, two walks and two hit batters over seven shutout innings. He struck out four.
Kee finally got on the board early in the second game, scoring twice in the opening frame. The Bulldogs responded with three runs in the bottom of the second inning—enough to win 3-2.
MFL MarMac made the most of four hits, including an RBI double courtesy of Elias Hatt, who later stole a base and scored. Dustin Larson drove in a run on a single, and Millage collected an RBI.
On the mound, Kuehl limited the Hawks to three hits, two walks and two earned runs, while striking out seven batters, in seven innings.
The Bulldogs cranked out 16 hits—including three homeruns—in an 18-2 thrashing of Postville on June 18. All the damage came in a 10-run second inning and eight-run fifth.
Jaron Wille posted a seven-RBI game on two singles and a homerun, while leadoff hitter Bryce Radloff was 2-3 with a single, homerun and walk. He had two of the team’s 10 stolen bases, drove in three runs and scored twice. Ben Krambeer had a three-RBI game as well, thanks to a single and homerun, and crossed the plate twice.
The win went to Kade Humble, who pitched five innings and surrendered five hits, two walks, a hit batter and two runs.
MFL MarMac continued to roll in a 10-0 win at North Fayette Valley on June 20. Senior Nick Krambeer allowed just one hit and three walks in five shutout innings, while fanning six TigerHawks.
Millage led the offensive effort with a single, double and three RBIs. Schellhorn knocked in two teammates on a single and sacrifice fly. He also walked and scored two runs. Wille and Nick Krambeer each singled and drove in a run, and Ben Krambeer doubled, walked twice, stole a base and scored a pair of runs.
The Bulldogs started this week with non-conference games at Anamosa on June 24 and Waukon June 26. A doubleheader at South Winneshiek on June 27 will likely determine the Upper Iowa Conference title. MFL MarMac edged the Warriors 1-0 earlier this season, but South Winn is currently a game up in the standings. The team will conclude the week at East Buchanan on June 28.
