WarEagles play NFV, Ed-Co at home

The Clayton Ridge-Central WarEagles played a varsity doubleheader at home against North Fayette Valley on May 29. They then played JV and varsity games against Ed-Co at home on May 31.

 

The WarEagle varsity squad won the first game of the doubleheader against NFV by a score of 8-7. Carson Ruegnitz went 3-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Owen Hammersland drove in two runs. Colten Hoeger pitched two scoreless innings in the game.

 

The WarEagles also took the second game of the doubleheader by a final score of 7-4. Max Nuehring pitched five solid innings and went 1-2 with an RBI. The WarEagles played very well in the win.

 

The Clayton Ridge-Central varsity fell to Ed-Co 8-6 in their game at home on May 31. Seth Kregel got the ball for the WarEagles and gave up four runs in the first inning before settling in and pitching very well the rest of his outing. The WarEagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t capitalize on a bases loaded situation. The game ended with the tying run in scoring position.

 

The JV WarEagles won their game against Ed-Co 8-7. They scored the winning run in the bottom of the last inning when the Ed-Co pitcher threw a passed ball that allowed the runner on third base to score. Griffen Hammersland pitched three solid innings in the win. 

 

The varsity is now 2-5, while the JV stands at 3-1.
