The 2024 regular season ended last week for the Seneca Royals softball team as they went 1-1.
The week began on Monday, May 13 with the Royals hosting the conference champion Hornets and the guests took care of business on their way to a 12-0 victory. The Royals were held to just two hits (singles by Raya Wallin and Emma Manning) in the loss.
The team returned to the diamond the next night as the Royals welcomed Westby to tonight. Despite trailing 1-0 after Westby’s half of the fourth inning, the Royals responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Seneca’s offense added three insurance runs in the sixth inning to make the score 5-1 as Brigid Hall shut the door on Westby in the seventh inning with a 1-2-3 inning to end the game.
Wallin (2-for-3 with two runs scored), Brittany Heisz (1-for-4 with one RBI), Kylie Chambers (1-for-3), Ava Sime (1-for-2 with two runs scored) and Kael DuCharme (1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs) led the Royals offensively.
Hall earned the win on the mound thanks to allowing just one run on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over the course of the game.
The Royals end the regular season at 9-11 overall and in fourth place in the Ridge & Valley Conference at 6-6.
