Gail A. Sims, 71, of Guttenberg died on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Graveside services were Tuesday, May 7, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, conducted by Pastor Dave Byrd.

Inurnment was Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein assisted the family.

Gail Ann (Westcott) Sims was born Jan. 6, 1953, to Darlene Ruth (VanBrocklyn) and Daryl Everett Westcott, in West Union. Gail graduated from Cedar Falls High School in the class of 1971. Gail was united into marriage on Feb. 7, 1970, to Robert Glen Sims, at the North Cedar Baptist Church in Cedar Falls. Gail was a homemaker, later working at Kmart for eleven years. In 1990 she graduated from La James International School of Cosmetology. Gail was a stylist for 13 years. In 2002 Robert and Gail moved to Guttenberg. She was a past member of the Methodist Church. Gail enjoyed reading, spending time with grandchildren, and cooking.

Gail is survived by her husband, Robert Sims of Guttenberg; two sons, Robert Sims of Decorah and Benjamin (Heather) Sims of Atkins; seven grandchildren and a sister, Rhonda Hruska of Waterloo.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Westcott.
