Since 2017, Paws on Your Heart Pet Rescue Support has been on a mission to help save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in Iowa, that have been abandoned, shot, neglected, hit by a car and left by the side of the road, or are victims of abuse, and help them get adopted by caring individuals that will give them the home they so deserve.

Susi Nehls and Roy Blair of Guttenberg, who offer grants to area pet rescues and organizations that support such rescue, spearhead the non-profit organization.

"Although rescue organizations take homeless pets in, care costs can be daunting," explained Nehls "When injuries and illnesses are life-threatening or life-altering, medical expenses quickly add up. And adoption fees fall way short of paying these bills. That is where Paws on Your Heart Pet Rescue Support comes in and picks up the slack. We do this through annual grants and funding tips and help we provide to our grantees."
