Sharon Dee Matthew, 83, of Marquette, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Crossing Rivers Health, in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Sharon was born Jan. 19, 1941, to Dale and Elizabeth “Betty” (Thomas) Reynolds in Cedar Rapids. 

 

From 1959 to 1962, Sharon and her late husband David Matthew lived in Montana while he served in the Air Force. In 1966, she moved into her home in Marquette where she raised her family. Sharon was a long-term employee of the Mar-Mac School District, devout member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and a lover of traveling and exploring the United States. She and her closest companion and travel partner, Janet, covered a lot of distance visiting landmarks and antique stores and attending family gatherings throughout the country.

 

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Dave, her parents Betty and Dale, her sister Karen and most recently her brother Doug Reynolds.  

 

She is survived by four children by birth (Kymm, Jeffrey, Darren and Dane) and one adopted son (Travis), 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral service was held on May 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor.

 

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is helping the family with arrangements.
