MFL MarMac girls win two more meets

Wins over Turkey Valley and Postville last week kept the MFL MarMac girls golf team unbeaten in Upper Iowa Conference meets.
The Bulldogs knocked off the Trojans 201-221 at Jackson Heights Golf Course on April 29, led by a 45 from meet medalist Devon Meyer. Kaylee Baker and Kaylin Garbes snagged the third and fourth spots with respective scores of 49 and 50, and Hannah Jacobson totaled a 57 to tie for sixth place. A 60 slotted Morgan Jacobson into eighth, followed by Clare Grau in 11th with a 62 and Kaylee Nuehring 12th with a 65. Mariah Moser finished 16th after shooting an 88.
MFL MarMac bested Postville 206-228 at Tri City Golf Course on May 3. Pirate Emily Timp shot a 48 and edged Meyer by one stroke to earn medalist honors. After Meyer, Bulldogs Hannah Jacobson, Garbes, Baker and Morgan Jacobson filled the third through sixth places. Hannah Jacobson had a score of 50, Garbes 53, Baker 54 and Morgan Jacobson 56. Wren Feuerhelm tied for eighth after shooting a 61.
The Bulldogs hoped to carry this momentum into the Upper Iowa Conference Tournament at Big Rock Country Club on May 7. They’ll compete in a Class 2A regional at Pleasant Valley Sports Club in Clermont on May 10. Other teams include Crestwood, Denver, North Fayette Valley, Osage, Postville, Sumner-Fredericksburg and Waukon.
