The MFL MarMac girls track and field team secured five placements of third or better en route to a sixth place finish at the Upper Iowa Conference meet at South Winneshiek on May 2.

Three of those came in the relays, where Bulldogs Emme Wikner, Hannah Bogdonovich, Brynlee Fritz and Samantha Ruff raced to second in the 4x100. Bogdonovich, Lauryn Sandstrom, Skylar Fisk and Evelyn Ruff crossed the line third in the distance medley, and Emma Driscoll, Bayleigh Wood, Audrey Ruff and Addyson Heins also combined for third in the 4x800.

Other relay results included fourth place in the 4x400 for Fisk, Sandstrom, Heins and Evelyn Ruff, as well as fifth in the sprint medley for Fritz, Sandstrom, Evelyn Ruff and Sam Ruff. The group of Heins, Driscoll, Makya Wood and Breanna Ramsvig earned eighth in the 4x200.

The individual running events were highlighted by a third-place effort for Bogdonovich in the 200-meter dash. Teammate Wikner was seventh in that race and fourth in the 400. Fritz and Ramsvig were a respective fifth and seventh in the 100, while Fisk and Bayleigh Wood leapt to 11th and 12th in the 100 hurdles.

The distance races yielded more strong finishes, with Evelyn Ruff claiming fifth in the 800 and Brooke Donlon third in the 1500. Audrey Ruff was 10th in the latter race.

MFL MarMac’s best results in the field events came in the long jump, where Ramsvig landed in seventh and Fritz ninth. Ariana Fish and Brooklyn Tonn launched 13th- and 14th-place throws in the shot put, while Heins and Audrey Ruff finished 14th and 15th in the discus.

The Bulldogs racked up 61 team points, an increase from the Ed-Co Girls Invite earlier in the week.

Results there included a trio of sixth-place finishes in the 4x100, distance med and shuttle hurdle relays, in addition to eighth in 4x400, 10th in the sprint medley and 14th in the 4x200.

Donlon earned fifth in the 1500 and Audrey Ruff 16th. Evelyn Ruff and Fisk were a respective seventh and 11th in the 800.

MFL MarMac had a pair of sixth-place efforts in the sprints, with Bogdonovich in the 200 and Sam Ruff in the 400. Wikner raced to eighth in the 200 and ninth in the 400. Fritz and Ramsvig crossed the line ninth and 10th in the 100, while Driscoll and Bayleigh Wood took 16th and 18th in the 100 hurdles.

In the field events, the Bulldogs again saw their best success in the long jump, as Ramsvig and Fritz finished a respective eighth and 10th. Tonn and Fish threw to 25th and 26th in the shot put, and Heins was 24th in the discus, followed by Audrey Ruff in 28th and Tonn in 32nd place.

Next up for the Bulldogs is the Class 2A state qualifying meet at Denver on Thursday, May 9.
