Georgia was born Sept. 13, 1949, to Jack and Lorain Ellen (Leutenbacher) Zuercher. She grew up in Mt. Vernon and Crawfordsville, and from a young age had an outgoing and driven personality. She married Jackie Eugene Taylor on Feb. 14, 1995.
She loved to play basketball, ride motorcycles and earned her brown belt in karate. She served as a first responder in Volga. She went to college and earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching and art from Upper Iowa University in 1994. She was proud to be a teacher in the Des Moines School District at Edmonds and then King Elementary for 17 years, retiring in 2016. She loved it and never stopped wanting to teach.
She was a hard worker, and it showed as she was a journeyman for 22 years. She loved to cook, garden, read and create art. Family meant the most to her. She loved spending time with her three daughters and their children. She maintained a very close relationship with her siblings, Forrest, Randy and Jackie.
In death, she rejoins her parents and her husband, Jack Taylor, and many other loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Lynnette Louise Birlew-Bailey, Karma Lee Birlew (Shane Drapeaux) and Andrea Lane Birlew; nine grandchildren, Jerry, Kapriecia, Andrew, Hunter, Caty, Jonathan, Kamryn, Zane and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Abigail, Lillath, Lakelyn and Sophia.
