Paul “Bill” William Small

Paul “Bill” William Small, 70 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at University of Wisconsin Madison due to complications from a stroke. Bill was born to Veronica M. Small on Feb. 1, 1954. Bill graduated from Campion High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and worked over forty years at Wyalusing Academy in various positions.
On July 18, 1987, Bill was united in marriage with Karen Ann Paulson at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. Bill and Karen enjoyed traveling together in and out of the country. They were big history, sports, and music lovers.
Bill left a lasting impression on those he met, and you always needed to be one step ahead of his quick wit and humor.
Surviving Bill are his sister, Helen Ann (Roy Wallin) Zabel of Prairie du Chien; nephew, Michael (Chasidi Kansier) Zabel; niece, Maureen (Josh) Runyon and their families; brother-in-law, Carroll (Janet) Paulson of Prairie du Chien, and sisters -in-law, De Paulson of Monroe, Wisconsin and Lavonne Paulson of St. Petersburg, Florida; nieces and nephews, Randy (Kim) Paulson, Bruce Paulson, Jill (Chris) Cass, Lynne (Kent) Hendrickson, Kerri (Shawn) Steinmann and Angela (Dave) Carlson and their families.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Vernonica M. (Chabela) Small; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Myra Paulson; brothers-in- law, Paul Edward Paulson and Gary Allen Paulson and a nephew, Dennis Paul son.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Huckleberry’s Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin from 1–4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. Please join us in celebrating “Uncle Bill” by wearing sports attire.
