Last week was a busy one for the MFL MarMac boys track and field team, who competed in meets at Decorah, Kee and North Fayette Valley.

Tucker Ruff continued his success in the hurdle events at the opening meet on April 15, at Decorah. The junior placed first in the 400-meter race and eighth in the 110. Teammate Rylee Kugel was 10th in the 110-meter race and 13th in the 400, while Carter Stoddard took 11th in the 110 hurdles.

More strong finishes came in the other individual running events, as Kashton Decker placed fourth in the 200 and sixth in the 100. Brandon Christofferson crossed the line fifth in the 400, while Jacob Schellhorn rallied to sixth in the 800-meter run.

The Bulldogs’ best relay time was the distance medley, where they placed third. The 4x100 and sprint medley finished fourth, the 4x200 was fifth, then the 4x400 sixth.

Aiden Schoulte led MFL MarMac in the field events, claiming fourth in the shot put. Bryce Diehl had a 14th-place throw. Hunter Christofferson and Carver Blietz-Bentien were a respective sixth and ninth in the discus.

MFL MarMac’s best meet was April 18, at Kee, where the Bulldogs won nine individual events and topped the team leader board with 125 points. Kee was the next closest with 74.

Bunting and Decker went one-two in the 200-meter dash, and Decker was first across the finish line in the 100. Teammate Kade McElwaine wasn’t far behind, in third place.

Brandon Christofferson had a solid second-place showing in the 400, while Schellhorn earned first in the 800. Alex Breuer was seventh in the latter event. Jaxon Millage took fourth in the 1600.

Ruff earned another pair of wins in the hurdles, and Kugel was second in the 110 and fifth in the 400.

The Bulldogs won four of the six relays in which the competed. Wyatt Powell, Blietz-Bentien, Bunting and McElwaine made up the top 4x200 squad, while the sprint medley included Powell, Blietz-Bentien, Decker and Christofferson. Stoddard, Bunting, Millage and Schellhorn ran the distance medley to victory, while Millage, Kugel, Stoddard and Ruff leapt to the top in the shuttle hurdle relay.

MFL MarMac turned in a second-place time in the 4x100 thanks to Powell, Blietz-Bentien, Decker and Bunting. The group of Stoddard, Ruff, Schellhorn and Christofferson made up the third-place 4x400.

All five Bulldog field participants placed within the top five, including Schoulte and Diehl going a respective second and fourth in the shot put. Hunter Christofferson was second in the discus, Blietz-Bentien third and Abe Hanson fifth.

MFL MarMac finished out the week April 19, at North Fayette Valley, scoring just 25 team points in a pared down slate of events.
