The Central boys track and field team competed in just one meet last week, on April 18 at West Delaware, after a meet two days prior was canceled due to weather. The Warriors finished with 30 team points and placed sixth.

In the sprints, Kyle Reinhart and Jacob Cook were a respective 10th and 11th in the 100-meter dash. Cook also ran in the 200, crossing in 10th in 29.42 seconds, while Vaughn Zittergruen ran a 27.12 to finish sixth.

The Warriors had four runners in the 400, including Zittergruen, who finished sixth, Reinhart in 10th and Henry Reimer 11th. Gavin Holst led Central with a second-place time of 56.57, a little over a second behind race winner Jack O’Neill from Waukon.

Reinhart was the lone Warrior in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing seventh.

The 800 featured Holst in fifth place with a run of 2:18.52, and Michael White finished eighth in 2:35.08. White also ran the 1600, taking ninth behind teammate Carson Ruegnitz, who put in a fifth-place time of 5:27.28. Declan Finley finished the race 12th, followed by Bryce Heller in 13th.

Holst returned to the track for the 3200, winning the race in 10:42.27, almost four seconds faster than second place. The Warriors rounded out the top 10 with Heller in eighth, Finley ninth and White 10th.

Central sent teams out in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, crossing the finish line fifth in the 4x400 and fourth in the 4x800.

In field events, Central only competed in the shot put, with Cook taking 10th with a throw of 32-09.

Up next for the Warriors was a meet April 23 at Anamosa, followed by a meet April 25 at Clayton Ridge.
