Meyer medals twice in successful week for MFL MarMac girls golf

Last week was a successful one for the MFL MarMac girls golf team, who won two meets and placed third in another.

 

The third-place finish came April 8, in the five-team, 18-hole Clayton Ridge Girls Invite. The Bulldogs turned in a team score of 429, trailing only East Buchanan’s 399 and Beckman Catholic’s 410. Central and Clayton Ridge were a respective fourth and fifth with scores of 504 and 505.

 

East Buc’s Jaeden Hellenthal won the meet with an 86, but Bulldog sophomore Devon Meyer was the runner-up after shooting a 94. Morgan Jacobson was the next top finisher for MFL MarMac, totaling a 102 to tie for sixth. Kaylin Garbes ranked 10th with a 111, and Clare Grau shot a 122 for 15th place. Hannah Jacobson and Kaylee Nuehring rounded out the scores with a respective 133 and 137, for 22nd and 24th place.

 

On April 9, MFL MarMac won a triangular at Tri City Golf Course. The team’s 215 outpaced Waukon’s 232 and Postville’s 235.

 

Meyer continued to shine, earning medalist honors with a 45 on the nine-hole course. Morgan Jacobson shot a 50 to tie for third. Garbes and Hannah Jacobson each turned in 60s to place seventh, while Grau was in a three-way tie for ninth with a 62. Nuehring shot a 64 to finish 13th.

 

The Bulldogs wrapped up the week with a 214-224 win over North Fayette Valley on April 11. They did it with the top three individual scores, starting with a 50 from Meyer. Morgan Jacobson was runner-up with a 53, and Garbes placed third with a 54. A 57 landed Hannah Jacobson in seventh place, while Grau and Nuehring were a respective 10th and 11th with scores of 63 and 69.

 

More conference meets are in store for MFL MarMac this week, at South Winn on April 15, then versus Clayton Ridge April 18.
