Peggy C. Puhl

Peggy Clarene Puhl, 80, of McGregor, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Peggy was born Jan. 26, 1944, to Edward and Clara (Habeger) Bohonek in California. She graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1963. Peggy was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.
On Sept. 5, 1969, Peggy was united in marriage with Lawrence Nicholson. Lawrence passed away. Peggy was united in marriage with Jamis Francis Puhl on Feb. 12, 2012, in Hawaii. Throughout the years, Peggy was employed at McGregor Loud Speaker, was a blackjack dealer and did housekeeping, was a bartender at Pocket City Pub, was a nurses aide in McGregor and did housekeeping at the casino.
Surviving Peggy are her children, Jamie (Stephanie) Puhl of Waterloo, Vicky (Bryant) Baker Sr. of Volga, Chad (Crystal) Nicholson of Volga and KinDee Durnan of Wadena; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren with two on the way; her siblings, Jerry (Jan) Wheeland of Cedar Rapids, Sandy Nicholson of Platteville, Wis., Wanda (Ival) Justice of Urbana, Ohio, Dean Wheeland of Wadena, John Bohonek of Hustisford, Wis., Lois Hartnett of Lancaster, Wis., Marie (Preston) Johansen of Elgin and Beth (Mark) Vasquez of Justin, Texas.
Peggy was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lawrence Nicholson and James Puhl; parents, Edward and Clara Bohonek; brother, James Bohonek; grandson, Cheyenne Robbins; and son-in-law, Eric Durnan.
Funeral service was April 6, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, with Rev. William Gentry II as the officiant. Inurnment will be at a later date at Waterloo Cemetery in Waterloo.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor is assisting the family with services.
