Iris May Dohse, 94, of Garnavillo passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Tower Living Center in Garnavillo.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Morris Funeral Home in Garnavillo. 

Funeral services will commence at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton.

Iris was born on May 30, 1929, the daughter of John and Lucille (Beckett) Frye. She married Robert Dohse on Jan. 28, 1950. She began her working career as a hairdresser at her own shop for some years. Together they raised three loving children, Kevin, Mark, and Linda. Later, she and Bob owned and operated Clayton Lighthouse for many years. They also owned Riverview bar in Lynxville, Wis. 

Iris liked to crochet and knit; she made many afghans for all the children and grandchildren. She spent many days on the river fishing or spending time with Bob. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking at the many restaurants she and Bob operated. Many people complimented the food at those restaurants. Iris made many friends and was much loved.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially with Bob. They were never far apart. They spent time fishing, traveling, and working the restaurants together, side by side. 

Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Robert; son, Kevin Dohse of Soldiers Grove, Wis.; son-in-law, Ron Caspersen of Garnavillo; grandchildren, Tyson (Jessica) Dohse, Shivhan (Drew) Dohse Morton, Jeremy Dohse, Shelly (Caspersen) Mack, Steve “Brandon” (Arieal) Link, Chris (Kim) Dohse; great-grandchildren: Rowan, Jordan, Braedyn, Tyler, Alexander, Keylee, Kylee, Adrian, Paisley; siblings: Gerald (Marilyn) Frye, Eleanor Soulli, Rolland (Madonna) Frye, and a brother-in-law, Jim Sandin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Dohse; daughter, Linda (Dohse) Caspersen; and a great-grandson, Matthew Crary; siblings, Frances Kruse, Betty Stickfort, Lyle Frye, Kenny Frye, and Geraldine Sandin.
