This past Saturday the Prairie du Chien/Fennimore Gymnastics team traveled to Platteville for the WIAA D2 Sectional Meet.

The team placed sixth at the meet with a score of 125.525. The Platteville sectional had some very tough competition and judging this year. Many scores were lower than some meets in the past. Senior Madilyn Fisher will advance to the state meet this coming weekend in Wisconsin Rapids for the fourth year in a row.

Fisher was the Vault Champion with a season high score of 9.4. Fisher will advance on all four events and All-Around. Fisher came in fifth on bars, fifth on Beam, second on Floor and All Around. Only the top five gymnasts on each event plus All Around advance to the state meet.

There were many other stand- out performances at last Saturday’s meet. Senior Alexandria Crary finished in 13th place for All Around. Crary performed a Tsuke, a difficult vault, for the first time in competition Saturday.  She also had a no fall routine on the Balance Beam in which she earned a score of 7.8.

Jasmine Olmstead performed several new passes in her floor routine scoring a 7.1, and also had a no fall beam routine. With Kendra Baker out with an illness, freshman Autumn Ziegler stepped up and took her place on the Balance Beam. On Bars, Paisley Dressler had a very clean performance with incredible improvements since the beginning of the season. Taia Dressler had one of her best Vault performances of the season scoring an 8.0. Freshman Julianne Washa also stepped up and performed on the Uneven Bars and the Floor Exercise.

Prior to Fisher, there had been three girls in program history who would had qualified for the state meet as many as three times during their career. Those three were Brittany Sheckler (2007 to 2009), Julie Stutzman (1982 to 1984), and Shellie Sheckler (1979 to 1981).

Fisher is also the first gymnast in program history to qualify for the  same state meet in all four events and the All-Around.

Here is a list of every girl in program history who has qualified for the state meet in three or more events in the same season prior to this year: Fisher, 2023 (All-Around , Balance Beam, Floor, and Vault), Fisher, 2022 (All-Around, Balance Beam, Floor, and Vault), B. Sheckler, 2009 (All-Around, Balance Beam, and Bars), Tisha Hale, 1997 (Balance Beam, Bars, and Vault), Julie Stutzman, 1984 (All-Around, Floor, and Vault), S. Sheckler, 1981 (All Around, Balance Beam, Floor, and Vault), Carol Pedretti, 1980 (Bars, Balance Beam, and All Around), and in 1979 it was done by Jean Duve (Balance Beam, Floor, and Vault), Tina Sawvell (Bars, Balance Beam, and All Around), and S.
