MFL MarMac well represented on UIC all-conference girls basketball teams

The Upper Iowa Conference champion MFL MarMac girls basketball team was well represented on this season’s all-conference rosters. Hannah Bogdonovich and Kaitlin Picha were named to the first team and Emme Wikner and Ava Kishman to the second team, while Autumn Shaw received an honorable mention nod.

 

Bogdonovich, a senior, racked up 270 points over 22 games, leading the Bulldogs and good for fourth most in the UIC, while averaging 12.3 per game. Her 99 field goals were also fourth most among conference players. Bogdonovich shot 33.6 percent from the field and 34 percent from long range, which was second best in the UIC. Her 32 three-pointers were tops for the Bulldogs and fourth in the conference. Additionally, Bogdonovich was one of MFL MarMac’s top rebounders (88 total), and had the third most steals (37) and assists (34). Her seven blocks were most on the team.

 

Picha collected 152 points (6.9 per game) over 22 games, and finished with a 31.2 field goal percentage. The senior knocked down 17 three-pointers, which was second most on the team, for a 25.4 percent clip, and was the Bulldogs’ top free throw shooter after nailing 45 of 70 for 64.3 percent. Picha’s 98 assists were most in the Upper Iowa Conference, and she averaged 4.5 per contest. She also ranked second among MFL MarMac players with 42 steals and fifth with 71 rebounds.

 

Wikner, one of multiple freshmen who made an impact for the Bulldogs this season, was second on the team in scoring with 174 points. She averaged 7.9 over 22 games and made 40.4 percent of shots from the field as well as 27.7 percent of those from behind the three-point arc. Wikner’s 62 steals were most on the team, her 49 assists second and 81 rebounds fourth.

 

Kishman totaled 149 points—an average of 6.8 per game—her junior season, with a 49.1 field goal percentage that was second best in the UIC. She led MFL MarMac with 126 rebounds (5.7 per game) and ranked second with four blocks, in addition to collecting 27 steals and 15 assists.

 

Shaw, also a junior, played in 21 games, during which she averaged 6.1 points per game and earned 128 overall. She shot 50 percent from the field, the highest number in the conference. Shaw’s 123 rebounds put her second just behind Kishman, and she tallied 20 steals, seven assists and a block.
