The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets welcomed the Richland Center Hornets to town on Tuesday, Feb. 6 for a non-conference contest. The visitors from the Southwest Wisconsin Conference took a slim 25-22 lead into halftime before using a 30-23 second half to earn the 55-45 victory over the host Hornets.
Cooper Lomas led Wauzeka-Steuben in scoring with 20 points, while teammates Lucius Cooley (15 points), Cohen Redman (5 points), Theodore Millin (3 points), and Brett Wagner (2 points) combined for the Hornets remaining 25 points.
The Hornets returned to conference action two nights later when they hosted Kickapoo on Thursday, Feb. 8. Following a low scoring first half that saw the visiting Panthers take a 20-18 lead into halftime, the Hornets used a strong second half to out score Kickapoo 33 to 18 to claim a 51-38 victory to improve their record to 7-11 overall, and 5-4 in the Ridge and Valley Conference.
Following the Hornets trip to Viola on Monday night to once again face Kickapoo, they return home to host La Farge on Thursday night before traveling to Cazenovia the following night to wrap up a busy week with the Weston Silver Eagles.
