A 62-45 loss to Crestwood in the Feb. 5 regular season finale snapped a five-game winning streak for the MFL MarMac girls basketball team.

The Bulldogs fell behind early, trailing the Cadets 16-9 after the first quarter. They couldn’t rally as the game progressed, down 10 points after both the second and third quarters.

MFL MarMac shot 10 percentage points behind Crestwood from the field—at 44.9 to 34 percent—and made just two of 12 three-point attempts. The Bulldogs also struggled from the foul line, converting fewer than half their 24 shots, and they turned the ball over 28 times to the Cadets’ 15. Twenty-two turnovers were due to Crestwood steals.

Hannah Bogdonovich’s 13 points led MFL MarMac. She added two rebounds and two assists. Ava Kishman notched 12 points and was just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds. She also had an assist, a steal and the team’s lone block. Kaitlin Picha netted seven points, five rebounds and four assists, while Emme Wikner picked up seven points and a team-high five steals along with four rebounds and three assists. Autumn Shaw rounded out the scoring with six points and had eight rebounds, a pair of steals and an assist.

MFL MarMac finished the regular season 14-7. The Bulldogs start postseason play Tuesday, Feb. 13, hosting 12-10 Sumner-Fredericksburg for a Class 2A regional match-up. The victor will play at Dike-New Hartford High School on Friday, Feb. 16, versus the winner of Dike-New Hartford and Columbus Catholic.
