Karen Kay Gilkes, 64, of Prairie du Chien, WI, passed away on Jan. 29, 2024.

She was born on Feb. 9, 1959, in Cuba City, WI, to the late Vern and Janet Beinborn. Karen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend who touched the lives of many with her kind and big-hearted nature.

Karen had a bubbly personality and was known for her loving and family-oriented nature. She cherished spending time with loved ones and was always there to lend a helping hand. Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Jennie) Beinborn, McFarland, WI; and her daughter, Paula (John) Quackenbush, Prairie du Chien, WI. Karen was a proud grandmother to Mollie, Caiden, Alexis, Tenley, Olivia and Ruger. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary, Pat (Tim) and Sherry (Timm) and her brothers, Larry (Jessy), Wayne (Teena) and Casey. Karen was a cherished aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

In her professional life, Karen enjoyed a fulfilling career before retirement. She dedicated her time and energy to her work, leaving behind a lasting impact on those she worked with.

Karen worshipped at Catholic churches throughout her life. Her faith was an important aspect of her journey, providing her with comfort and guidance.

Outside of work and faith, Karen had a passion for spending time with family and friends. She treasured every moment shared and created lasting memories with her loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Karen’s memory, and the impact she had on the lives around her. May she rest in eternal peace.
