The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets boys basketball team continued their lengthy homestand last week by hosting two more games.

First up for the Hornets was the visiting Potosi Chieftains on Monday, Jan. 22. Potosi came into the game with an overall record of 12-2 and sitting alone in first place in the Six Rivers West conference.

A back-and-forth game emerged between the two teams which lead into overtime. In overtime however, it was all Potosi as the Chieftains earned a 60-52 victory.

The Hornets stepped back into conference play on Thursday, Jan. 25 when they hosted Seneca. The Hornets early hot shooting quickly turned cold and Wauzeka-Steuben was unable to keep up with the visiting Royals during the rest of the games as Seneca pulled away for a 71-60 victory.

Seneca improved to 4-4 in conference play with the win, while the Hornets slipped to 4-3 in the Ridge and Valley Conference and 5-9 overall with the loss.

The Hornets returned to the court on Tuesday night when they hosted Brookwood in non-conference action before they travel to De Soto on Friday, Feb. 2 as they look to remain striking distance of first place teams Ithaca and North Crawford.
